Restrict User From Changing Desktop Background in Windows 8

Introduction

 
In this article, we are explaining how to restrict the user from changing the Desktop Background in Windows 8. By default, users can use the Desktop Background page in the Personalization or Display Control Panel to add a background design (wallpaper) to their desktop. If you enable this setting, none of the Desktop Background settings can be changed by the user. If you click on the Disable Button then you can change the background of the PC.
 
If you click on the "Enable" button in the "Prevent Changing Desktop Background" Window, you can not change the Desktop Background. So it is shown with the help of the figure below. Windows 8 assists with the Disabling of changing Desktop Background. If you want to "Prevent Changing Desktop Background" then you can type the "gpedit.msc" in the search box and click on it.
 
After opening the Local Group Policy Editor, you click on the User Configuration, sub-category Administrative Templates, sub-category Control Panel, sub-category Personalized and right-click on the "Prevent Changing Desktop Background" under the Personalized. If you want to "Prevent Changing Desktop Background" then click on the "Enable Button" for disabling the Desktop Background. If the Desktop Background is disabled then it is not possible to change the Desktop Background wallpaper. So it provides Desktop Background security.
 
Before "Prevent Changing Desktop Background", you right-click on your Desktop and click on the Personalized Tab. In this, you can show the option for changing the Desktop Background.

Steps How to Prevent Changing Desktop Background in Windows 8

 
Step 1
 
Move the cursor on the right-bottom and select the search box and enter into the search box what you want.

In the search box, you enter the gpedit.msc under the application tab and click on the window that is shown.

In the window that is shown, you will see the "Local Group Policy Editor" window.

Step 4
 
In this step, I want to Prevent Changing Desktop Background. Click on the User Configuration, sub-category Administrative Template, sub-category Control Panel, sub-category Personalization and click on the "Prevent Changing Desktop Background".

If you click on the Enable Button then you can not change the desktop background and if you click on the Disable Button then you can change the Desktop Background. You can click on the Enable button to disable the ability to change the Desktop Background and click on the Apply or OK button.

After step 6 is complete, right-click on your Desktop and select the Personalized tab. In this tab, you can not change the Desktop Background.
