Skip Metro Start Screen and Boot Directly Into Desktop in Windows 8

Introduction

In this article, we are explaining how to skip the Metro Start Screen and go directly to the Windows 8 Desktop screen. As you know Windows 8 introduced the Metro Start Screen, a new feature that contains a collection of Metro Apps and shortcuts for Desktop applications. Whenever you turn on or restart your system then the Metro Start Screen displays as the first screen. If you want to access the Desktop screen then you have to click on the Desktop tile on the Start Screen.

But some users not familiar with Windows 8 want direct access to the Desktop screen whenever the system is turned on or restarted. To do that you must change the settings of the Windows 8 Start Screen.

How to change the settings of the Start Screen?

Step 1

First, go to the Search box and type "regedit" and click on the application that appears in the results window.
