Adding Client Printer Drivers to the Print Server

Introduction

In one of my previous articles I explaing How to Install the Print Server on Windows Server 2012.

In this article you will learn how to add a client printer driver to the Print Server.

Before going through this article make sure that you had installed the Print Server and Fax Server on your system, for that you can use the preceding link.

Step 1

First of all open the Administrative Tools from the Start Menu.

Now your Administrative Tools will be opened, here an option will be available named Print Management, double-click on it to open it.

Step 2

Now your Print Management Wizard will be opened, here on the left hand side click on "Print Server" to expand it. This will show the Print Server Object under it.

Now expand the Print Server object under which you will see that three to four options are available and one of them is named Printers.

Step 3

Click on Printers, this will show you all the Printers that are available on the Server.

Now right-click on any of the printers you want to add Print Drivers for and choose "Manage Sharing".

Step 4

In the Properties Window click on the Sharing Tab after which the page will look like this:

Now you need to first check the "Share this Printer" and after that click on Additional Drivers.

Step 5

Now choose the type of system you want to add these drivers for. If drivers have not been installed previously then it will ask for the location from where these drivers can be installed, if drivers were available previously then it's Status will be Yes.

Now provide the path of the drivers (from where they can be installed from) and then click on the "Ok" button.

After providing all that, click on the "Apply" button to apply the changes and then you are done.
