How To Install the DNS Server in Windows Server 2012

Introduction

In today's article you will learn how to install the DNS Server on your Windows Server 2012.

Step 1

First of all open your Server Manager. Either it will be opened automatically or you can open it manually.

Step 2

Now click on the "Manage" button then select "Add Roles and Features".

Or simply click on the "Add Roles and Features" on the Front Page.

Now some important information would be given, you can read it and then click on the "Next" button.

As you click on Next, the Installation type page will be opened that will ask you to select one of the options. Select the first option i.e. "Role-based or feature-based Installation" and then click on "Next".

Step 4

Now you must select a Server from the Server Pool. Since I have only one Server, my default Server is automatically selected. After selecting the Server click on Next.

Now a list will be displayed in front of you from which you must select the DNS Server.

Step 5

Now you must select the features that you want to install on the selected server, for example .NET Framework 4.5 or 3.5. Select Modules corresponding to your requirements then click on "Features" and then click "Next >".

Now a confirmation page will be opened in which you must give permission to the server to get it restarted if required.

Step 6

Now click on the "Install" button and your installation will begin. It will take five to ten minutes depending on the processing power of your server.

After installation is complete close this.

Step 7

Now you will see in the Server Manager that a DNS option is available on the right hand side. Click on this and you will see that its Service is started.
