List is a primary building block in SharePoint. It is simply a collection of information that you can share to your team member in the organization.
 
It contains a set of rows and columns with different data types and it stored different types of data and display with different formats like calendar, Task list etc.
 
You can view a list in several different ways. For example, you can provide a view on one page of all tasks and a view on another page of just the tasks that are due today. You can also use folders to organize your list items. For example, you can view just the current events from a calendar on a home page and create a visual view - similar to a wall calendar - on another page.
 
SharePoint List can support read and write operation with an external source. You can also make validation in a list plus you can run business process (workflow) in list item.
 
There is a different type of view in SharePoint List.
 

How to Create a List In SharePoint 2013

Login to your SharePoint Site -> Click on Setting option on the left menu.

Choose the app you want to add - Click on Custom List

Then Click on list and choose the name of your new list. Ex: MyCustomList
