How To Extract All Images From An Existing PowerPoint Presentation

In this article, I will explain the steps you can take to extract all the images (same applies for gif animations) that were imported into the Powerpoint presentation slide. Follow the steps as shown below,

Disclaimer

I have tested this approach to work for PowerPoint files with the .PPTX extension. For versions older than 2010, you can simply save the presentation as HTML that will display all images in a folder.
  1. Navigate to the folder where you have saved the PowerPoint presentation file

  2. In the folder, rename the PowerPoint presentation file with the .zip (Example: Presentation1.pptx to Presentation 1.zip)

    1. If you are unable to view the file extension, you need to set Windows Explorer to show the File Extension

    2. Now right click the file and select Rename. Simply change the extension of the file from .pptx to .zip

    3. You will be prompted with a confirmation message. Click Yes to rename the file. The file will now be converted into a zip file.

  3. When you extract the contents of the file (simply double click the zipped file), you will notice a folder structure as shown below

  4. Open the ppt -> media sub folders. Within the media subfolder, you will get to view all the images that are a part of the PowerPoint presentation file.

You can therefore extract all the images/gifs that you imported into the PowerPoint presentation using this simple method.
