Introduction

DLP Policy is used to analyze the sensitive material without affecting other tasks which are working on the remaining material. It is very helpful in those cases where the words or phrases are unique or not similar to credit card numbers, financial documents, unique employee IDs, health records or top-secret file naming conventions. The users can track, identify, and protect the confidential content which is stored in the cloud.

Step 1

First login to your O365 Admin Account, and go to Admin Center window by clicking Exchange.

Step 2

Now, the Exchange Admin Center window will open on the screen, just choose Compliance Management >> Data Loss Prevention then click New DLP policy for the template.

Step 3

After that, a new window will appear on the screen and here you can create your own or create a new policy on the existing template.

For this, type the name and select the template then hit on Save.

Step 4

Now, click on the pencil icon to modify the created template, just because by default it's ruling the text mode, and invisible to the end user.

Step 5

After that check on the Enforce option >> rule >> and modify the given option according to your requirement >> hit on save.

Step 6

Once you've saved it you can see the policy in the MS Outlook or Outlook Web App.

You can check it by sending mail. Whenever you will send a mail you will get an alert like this,

Step 7

After that, you want to send that mail then type the business justification message and press override.

Note
This will not stop the malicious user who asks for private information to stop doing so, there is no way to stop everything, but it is a very useful way to prevent disclosure while educating the end user about this concern.
