What is Microsoft Copilot+ PC

CoPilot+ PC

Microsoft just announced its new PC lineup, Microsoft CoPilot+ PC, at MSBuild. This new category of Windows PCs is designed specifically for AI workloads. They are equipped with powerful new processors and multiple state-of-the-art AI models that can perform a massive number of operations per second to enable a new set of experiences directly on the device. These AI experiences are designed to make users more productive and creative in a variety of tasks.

These PCs have started a new era of PCs in which AI processing will dominate computing. CoPilot PCs are designed to process AI models locally and securely.

Here are some of the key features of Copilot+ PCs:

Powerful Neural Processing Unit (NPU)

Copilot+ PCs have a special chip called a neural processing unit (NPU) that is designed to handle AI tasks more efficiently than a traditional CPU. This allows Copilot+ PCs to perform AI tasks much faster than traditional PCs. With the NPU on the Snapdragon® X Series processor, you’ll have 45 trillion operations per second (TOPS) to work with.

Advanced AI Models

Copilot+ PCs have access to several advanced AI models that can be used for various tasks, such as real-time translation, image generation, and speech recognition.

Copilot+ Experiences

Copilot+ PCs unlock a new set of AI experiences that are not available on traditional PCs. These experiences include things like Recall, Cocreator, Windows Studio Effects, Super Resolution, and live Captions.

All-day battery life

Copilot+ PCs are designed with all-day battery life, so you can use them all day long without worrying about running out of power.

Windows 11

Copilot+ PCs come with Windows 11, the latest version of the Windows operating system. Windows 11 includes several new features designed to improve productivity and creativity.

Copilot+ PCs that are available right now are the Surface Laptop 7th Edition and the Surface Pro 8 with OLED display, both from Microsoft. These laptops start at $990. They are available in a few different configurations, with different amounts of storage and memory.  They both come in black or platinum colors.

Many vendors, including Dell, Acer, Asus, Lenovo, and Samsung, have also announced their CoPilot+ PC models, which are now available to preorder from their respective websites and PC retailers.
