Why Microsoft Kaizala (काय झाला) ?

This session explains the reasons why Microsoft has introduced a collaboration tool called Microsoft Kaizala. This tool is developed by MS R&D India KAI ZALA - What happened / Whats up? Its name is derived from Marathi language.

 

Why Microsoft Kaizala?

 
There are so many channels/tools to collaborate within organizational teams in today's modern workplace. Considering this Microsoft has evaluated the need for enterprise tool for information workers.
 
Kaizala is a phone-number based, simple, and secure mobile chat app that enables you to connect and coordinate work across your network – your organization, vendors, partners, suppliers, and customers. Kaizala is a tool where you post a link and the whole universe can join by clicking that link :). Microsoft Kaizala has been optimized to work on 2G networks to enable connectivity in remote locations and offers features with offline support. This tool not only helps collaboration within information workers but also helps in aggregating and analyzing the data, assimilating insights and generating automated reports. As this tool is developed on top of Office 365 compliance framework, it comes with highest quality of enterprise security and  manageability. Kaizala can be used to Workplace coordination, task monitoring, assigning of jobs, performance tracking and scheduling of meetings. Custom ‘actions” could be built based on business needs through open API systems.

Microsoft recently announced that Kaizala will be part of MS Teams. Microsoft Teams which is highly popular tool among first line users will be effectively used by second line users will leverage other features in MS Teams.
 

Difference between Teams and Kaizala

 
When you try to use MS Teams conversation with a user external to your organization, you have to follow below steps.
  1. You have to ask the global admin to open access in Azure
  2. Request Teams admin to open access in Teams and share the invitation with user
  3. User then have to create a new MS account or use their company's email to become an external user under your tenancy which takes away one license from your pot.
  4. They might have a federated account and they would log with that one or you have to give them a onetime access, one that you will have to ask your global admin to revoke it once the purpose is fulfilled.
To summarize,  Microsoft Kaizala is highly effective tool for collaboration for internal users , information workers and 2nd line users.
