Stratis Launches Masternode Staking on Mainnet

Stratis

We’re excited to announce that the Masternode Staking Protocol is now live on the Stratis Mainnet! This milestone unlocks liquid staking for STRAX holders, bringing a new level of flexibility and opportunity to the community.

What’s New?

With this update, solo stalkers can continue to earn rewards and receive a new liquid token called mSTRAX. This token represents your staked STRAX and can be used throughout the Stratis ecosystem — opening doors to new decentralized finance applications and smart contract interactions on StratisEVM.

How to Get Started?

Getting started is straightforward. Stratis users can now,

  • Generate validator keys
  • Set up their Linux hosts via the Stratis Launcher
  • Onboard validators into the Masternode Staking Protocol
  • Once onboarded, you’ll receive mSTRAX tokens reflecting your staked amount.

To make this easy, we’ve prepared a detailed step-by-step guide that walks you through the entire setup from key creation to validator configuration.

Masternode dApp & Upcoming Hardfork

Although the protocol is active and mSTRAX coins have already been produced, the Masternode dApp will only take mSTRAX as collateral after the expected hardfork on June 11, 2025.

This gives the community ample time to complete onboarding and ensure validators are fully prepared before the upgrade.

Important Validator Updates Before the Fork

To stay compatible post-fork, all validators must update their setup.

Key Notes for Existing Validators

If you’re already running a validator, please note.

  • Existing validator keys cannot be reused.
  • New keys must be generated with the Masternode Staking Protocol contract as the withdrawal address.
  • This is crucial for proper exit management and seamless protocol integration.
  • You’ll need to exit your current validator setup, create new keys, and then onboard through the Masternode Staking dApp.

Test It Out on Auroria Testnet

Before going live, we highly recommend testing your validator setup on the Auroria Testnet. The process is similar but has a few important differences, especially around execution and withdrawal addresses all detailed in our setup guide.

To test on Auroria

Testing will help you get comfortable with the process and ensure your configuration is spot on before moving to Mainnet.
