Appending to an XML file C#

Question

Hi: I have an xml file with the following structure:- I want a piece of code just to append anather "student" to the above Students table(.xml file) from my windows app. Thanks for your co-operation, it's appreciated!! I want the output like the folloing:-

Hi Simon: No your xml file is correct, thereis no problem with it its just that you are using empty elements and i'm using containers. empty elements become containes after you hage generated a schema corresponding to your xml file, according to w3c standars i guess, remember i'm new to C#. XmlAttribute aSurname = doc.CreateAttribute("surname"); aSurname.Value = "simpel"; e.SetAttributeNode(aSurname); // Attribute age. XmlAttribute aAge = doc.CreateAttribute("age"); aAge.Value = "24"; e.SetAttributeNode(aAge); doc.DocumentElement.AppendChild(e); // Write it back to the xml file. doc.Save(@"..\..\students.xml"); } catch (Exception ex) { Console.WriteLine(ex.Message); } Console.WriteLine(); Console.WriteLine("Press enter to exit."); Console.ReadLine(); One thing is strange.. maybe you can give me the answer...
