Confused abt my future role

Hi C# corner,

I am working as a Senior Software Engineer. Nearly 8 yrs of experience as a Developer.Completed MCA in 2006.

Initial 6 yrs exp on .Net Technology( Web app,windows app, webservices),
then 1 yr on Android App Development,
and from past 1 yr on PHP app development

I am working on Embedded Domain from past 5 yrs.

My question is i am confused abt my future role?? what i should focus / aim for ?? Any certifications needed??

No experience in project management.

Pls Guide me.

Welcome to C# Corner Divakar. It seems like you've been thrown into different technologies and that might just be a need of your company. But it does not make sense to move to Android and PHP after 6 years working with .NET. That is just waste of your skills.

All 3 of these have good future. Now it depends on what interests you the most. You need to figure it out. But having a Lead role (team lead, tech lead) will be a good fit for you. If your company does not offer career enhancements then may be time to find a different company?

Always, keep learning by yourself. Don't rely just on what you do at your work.

Hi Divakar,
Before saying anything I want to say that whatever you done will never get waste. May be it won't give any benefit today but in future definitely you will get benefit to work on multiple technologies.
Option 1: If you willing to move into Lead Role or Management Role then you can go for Scrum Master Role of Agile. Today's for software development projects Agile is following for most of the projects so you can do a certification of Scrum Master (Certified Scrum Master, CSM).

Option2: As your most of the experience is in .Net so try to move into projects of .Net is an better option, I am not saying that other areas are not good but your most of the work experience is .net so I am suggesting this. If your company won't give any opportunities to work on .Net projects than read yourself by making POC in idle time or do blogging which also helps you.

Yes I agree with Mahesh. Career on dot net will be apt for you since you have vast experience in it. I would suggest you to make a career move with .Net skills. All the best for your job search!
