connect windows phone 8.1 to azure

Hello,

I am developing a windows phone 8.1 app, i want to create a database online, how exactly should i connect it online? I was told to use azure which i already have an account using dreamSpark , If i may get a guide line to figure out how to implement it. Thank you in advance

You can use Azure Mobile service to connect the app to database. For the api purpose you can use ASP.Net Web API or Node.Js in Azure Mobile Service. Check the documentation at : http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/mobile-services-dotnet-backend-windows-store-dotnet-leaderboard/
