Convert STRING DATE TO DATE FORMAT

I have requirement to change the string format date to date format.

Example:

6/1/2019-----m/d/y---string datatype

Output: June 19

I tried many ways but not working in athena sql. Please help me to solve it.

Try This -

DECLARE @TEMPDATE VARCHAR(10) ='6/1/2019'
SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(3), CONVERT(DATE,@TEMPDATE), 100) + RIGHT(YEAR(CONVERT(DATE,@TEMPDATE)),2)

Output - Jun19
