Convert means Change the nature, purpose etc..

Parse means an act of or the result obtained by parsing a string or a text.

Convert class makes it easier to convert between all the base types which internally calls Parse method.

Parse takes in a object and attempts to convert it to a type.

Convert does not throw a ArgumentNullException while Parse does.

int.Parse(string s) method converts the string to integer and Convert.ToInt32(string s) does the same.

If string s is null, then Parse() will throw ArgumentNullException where Convert() doesn't.

If string s is other than integer value, then both Parse and Convert will throw FormatException.

If string s represents out of integer ranges, then both Parse and Convert will throw OverflowException.

The main difference between Convert and parse is that Convert handle null values and return default value for that type.

eg :

string s=null;

int result = Convert.ToInt32(s); //In this case 0 will be returned but when using parse we will get ArgumentNullException.
