Hi,
Cursor are basically used to process or read records one by one. while reading data you can definately perform certainly validations on it. From oracle database point of view we can make use of cursor for retrieving records from the database through procedures.

For eg. the following query might help you.

create or replace procedure prcDisplayEmp

(

temp_Cursor out sys_refCursor

)

begin

open temp_Cursor for

select * from tempEmployees;

end;

Well there are other uses of cursor also.
