Date format listviewitem

Question

How to perform date formatting in the listview item text property? It is currently displaying #2011/08/08# and I want to convert it to 'mm-dd-yyyy'. Please help!

You can do the conversion with code such as this: Dim str As String = "#2011/08/08#" str = DateTime.Parse(str.Trim("#"c)).ToString("MM-dd-yyyy") However, if you're using databinding, it might be easier to format the date before binding takes place.

That line doesn't need to be altered. So your code should now be: ConvertDateTime(stDate, eDate) ' fills stDate and eDate strTempArray(7) = translate("CYCLE TIME: ") & stDate.ToShortDateString & " -- " & eDate.ToShortDateString

Converted line: strTempArray(7) = translate("CYCLE TIME: ") & stDate.ToShortDateString & " -- " & eDate.ToShortDateString to strTempArray(7) = translate("CYCLE TIME: ") & Me.ConvertDateTime(stDate, eDate) Says, expression does not produce a value.

One way of doing it would be to pass those variables by reference: Private Sub ConvertDateTime(ByRef stDate As String, ByRef eDate As String) stDate = CDate(ListView1.Items(0).Text).ToShortDateString eDate = CDate(ListView1.Items(ListView1.Items.Count - 1).Text).ToShortDateString End Sub You can then call the method with: ConvertDateTime(stDate, eDate) and the variables will now contain the converted strings when the method returns.

Not sure what you're asking but, if you're wanting to populate a string array with 3 three strings, then the syntax will be: Dim TempArray() As String = {translate("Cycle Time"), stDate.ToShortDateString, eDate.ToShortDateString} You can then print the array with code such as this: Dim Combined As String = String.Join(", ", TempArray) MessageBox.Show(Combined)

I created a sub and converting the Text string from Listview item using "CDate". But now i need to use these variables stDate and eDate into another sub to print Cycle Time. Check the line below: TempArray() = translate ("Cycle Time") & stDate.ToshortDateString & eDate.ToShortDateString. This line is in another sub. I need to pass the above two variables in this line.
