difference between list and ienumerable in c#?

If you could please elaborate in bit more detail "not fully satisfied"? Do you want to say "not fully understood"?

First things first, do you know the precise difference between an Interface definition and an Interface implementation. If yes, then it is very clear that IEnumerable is an interface definition and List is a interface implementation of IEnumerable.

Furthermore, please be aware that a class can implement multiple interfaces.

Basically when you say IEnumerable, you are looking at interface with limited functionality but when you say List - it is an implementation of IEnumerable with some more functionality like indexing and others.
