error connecting: timeout expired.In iis ?

Hi All ,

I have issue in iis . after deployment . when too many users accessing at the same time, i am facing the follwing error. How to resolve this. I have searched through google. Everyone says connection not been closed properly.but i have closed the connection properly. so what would be cause this error.

If someone pass through this error suggest me with suitable solution.

error connecting: timeout expired. The timeout period elasped prior to obtaining a connection from the pool.

Try this,

ofcourse you can increase the Max Pool size to 500 or more , but this is not a solution at all .
you must have a connection leak that needs to be fixed
find the leaked dataconnection , there is a readymade class in this article , you need to download and use to monitor

Hi Karthik,

Yes, it is because of your connetion not closed properly or This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.

So, close your database connection in finally
SqlConnection myConnection = new SqlConnection(ConnectionString);
try
{
     conn.Open();
     someCall (myConnection);
}
finally
{
     myConnection.Close();
}

or

using (SqlConnection myConnection = new SqlConnection(ConnectionString))
{
     myConnection.Open();
     someCall(myConnection);
}
Or Increase the max pool size
ncrease pool size like in your connection string string connectionString = "Data Source=localhost; Initial Catalog=Northwind;" + "Integrated Security=SSPI; Min Pool Size=10; Max Pool Size=100";
or
Don't use pooling at all string connectionString = "Data Source=localhost; Initial Catalog=Northwind;" + "Integrated Security=SSPI; Pooling=false;";
