How important is javascript knowledge for asp.net developer?

Hello,

Please guide as to where it is used and is it required that a asp.net developer have a very good knowledge about javascript? Also please give me examples where xml is used ??? I have never come across where it can be used,need some practical examples..

I would say, JavaScript is very important for a UI ASP.NET developer. If you are a senior developer who work on the backend and middle layers, you probably don't need it. But to build good and fast ASP.NET applications, you will end up working with JavaScript.
