Hi,

How to read text file data in asp.net using c# into individual textboxes in webform.

The text file is stored in a folder in a network pc.I want to show the exact data of text file into individual textboxes in webform.

string arr = System.IO.File.ReadAllLines(txtfile path);
foreach (var a in arr)
{
MesssageBox.Show(a);
}
foreach will show your all line.
Put all line where you want to put.

Hi,
You can serialize data in JSON format and keep in a text file, so this method will help you to handle data easily, you can add text encryption for your data.
you can use,
System.Web.Script.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer()
for serializing your objects..

Hi,
Dear its not proper method to save the file data in table because when you retrieve data the process becomes slow as data increases.
Though you want to save it in table just keep the columns type NVARCHAR(MAX) and put whole content of file into table just using procedure.
One more method is just put the file name in the column and save the file in a folder let say Files and retrieve when needed using StreamReader.

I forgot one more thing that how to insert the text data into table. The text Data is in pipe form.

It would be great if you assist me.

Hi,
I assume you have 20 columns separated with pipe "|" .
Just give the textbox names as
T0
T1
T2
T3
T4
T5 and so on.
string FilePath=HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath(PATH_WHERE_FILE_RESIDES);
StreamReader Streader = new StreamReader(FilePath);
string FileData = Streader.ReadToEnd();
Streader.Close();
and follow below loop.
string[] TextBoxValues = FileData .Split('|');
for(int i=0;i< TextBoxValues.Length;i++)
{
( this.Controls["T" +i.ToString()] as TextBox).Text = TextBoxValues[i];
}

Hi,
The data in the text file is in the form of-
1859|1546|1235456|01/02/2016|V555|06/06/2016|55|175|254|213|
15/05/2016|05.55|15/05/2016|04.45|98546|547|15/05/2016|15.36|15/05/2016|14.22
How to show all the data in the individual textboxes.
1859 -TextBox1
1546 -TextBox2
123456 -TextBox3
and so on.

Hi,
First you map the path of the file using
string FilePath=HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath(PATH_WHERE_FILE_RESIDES);
then
StreamReader Streader = new StreamReader(FilePath);
string FileData = Streader.ReadToEnd();
Streader.Close();
now the FileData Variable will hold all the data from the file, you can perform the string operations and show it to the destination textboxes.
