And @ Neil - Thanks for your reply, Can you please tell how bill acceptor work and how to connect it to the PC, just i have one cable that connect to the PC through serial port. I am building an application in  .Net in that whenever user want to recharge his/her account then one can do that through bill acceptor, where one can insert the bill, all i want to know how i will come to know how much bill that person have inserted into the bill acceptor. Please do reply!!!!:)

Most bill acceptors already have serial protocols, so I don't know why you would try to convert from pulse.  Most JCM validators have a serial protocol called ID-003 that is well featured.  Try www.jcmglobal.com for support.

I work for a competitive firm called MEI. See www.meigroup.com.  I don't know what end use your project is trying to serve, but there are a lot of factors in bill acceptor selection.  MEI has a serial protocol called EBDS that is fully supported by an API called MPOST.  There is a version of MPOST that works in the .Net framework.

I am trying to interface with a Bill Acceptor via Serial Port. The bill acceptor sends a pulse through the serial port every time a dollar is inserted into the bill acceptor. For example, if $1 is inserted one pulse is sent, if a $5 bill is inserted 5 pulses are sent.

I need to write a program that can update a simple text file with the number of bills that have been inserted into the machine.

I was wondering if there would be anyway if anyone on here would be able to help me out.
