Manage SQL Server Database

Feb 1 2015 10:15 PM
I am using Microsoft Management Studio  to change tables and index, stored procedures  and do general database duties. We do not have a person dedicated to the role of data base administrator.

Everyone on the team pitches in this. We have the following :
  • each developer has a local database
  • Development database
  • Testing Database
  • Production

In a perfect world the database structure would be identical in all of the above database, however there is no version control so If went to test and made changes no one would know. another developer could override my changes without me knowing. I am not sure the stored procedures in all database are the same.

I am interested in hearing how others are managing similar situations and what tools they are using.

Please respond your comments and suggestion are appreciated.
