Are you really meant the "Session" variable in ASP.Net? If so the below MSDN Url gives a good overview on it. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178581.aspx HTTP is a protocol, which is often used to access web. HTTP is stateless. That means, it won't identify which request comes from which user.In a web application, the application needs to identify whether the subsequent requests are generated by the same user or not. In order to solve ASP.Net provides "session" management techniques. There are 2 category of session management : 1. Client side 2. Server side 1. Client side Techniques: Querystring Hidden Fields Cookies etc 2. Server side Techniques: Session Variables Viewstate Cache etc Hope this helps!
