SQL Server 2008 install on Windows 7 pro x64 fails
I've tried about 3 times now after removing prior installs and doing a windows update that just install Windows 7 sp1. Could it be the account I'm using for the Service of Network ?

May be you are trying to install SQL 2008 Enterprise Edition on Windows 7 with SP1. May be this is not a supported scenario. You may install Developer edition which has the same feature set as Enterprise edition.
