test my c# chat in the same pc

hi to all, i`m really newbie in c#, actually i'm developing a peer to peer chat but i have only one computer at my house, my question is: is there a way to emulate a second pc inside my only one pc? i guess is something like a virtual machine, but i don`t know whic software is the best or some configuration? can you give me some advices? thanks
