I say before you solve yourself look forward for some software where it's functioning, ex- Tally
Becoz for balance sheet you need to input data from user as CR/DR entries & other accounting also....
Implementing is next step but have clear requirement what you want to construct.
Balance sheet can be displayed using HTML tables, Crystal Reports. So that's not big deal
