Change the following line:

header("Content-type: application/octet-stream");

to

header("Content-type: application/vnd.ms-excel");

And try again...

Jishi, I don't personally believe that your file is actually .xls or .xlsx. Can you open the downloaded file in NotePad or NotePad++? If yes, then it is NOT proper MS-Excel file. It is just a csv file. So please use:

header("Content-type: text/csv");

User will be able to open it in MS-Excel.

May be because your file is not really MS-Excel file at all. It is just a .csv, isn't it?

So you can try following:

header("Content-type: text/csv");

i changed the headers as ,

header("Content-type: application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet");

header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="Feature_Detail_Report.xlsx"');
