What continious integration does

Continous Integration or CI is a process where when ever a developer checks in changes to a Source Control Management system. It triggers a build and possibly unit testing, packaging and deployment to a test environment for QA.

Advantages:

Ensures devoloper checked in all changes and added any new files.

Ensures changes by another devolper do not break the changes (ie. two developers check in conflicting changes)

With Unit Test ensures changes do no break Unit Tests and ensures all unit test have been run.

With packaging and deployment can ensure that all new components are included in the packaging.

With packaging and deployment gives QA the ability to test from a clean install ensuring deployment works correctly.
