What is better ado.net or entity framework?

Hi Friends,

I have a finance domain project, in this we generate a payment, sell and purchase currency and reporting part .

So it is a long project with thousand of tables.

So plz suggest what i use in my project entity framework or ado.net net.

plz suggest.

I like Ado.Net (finanace project deals with trading) ,as I can get more control over things ,

Entity framework require learning curve and map your tables to entity , then if you want to mold your entity as per UI you need model classes.

But when I got for Ado.net I can make use of datareader and mold my response in my model classes , that is one big diffrence i found.

I think Etity framewrok under the hood make use of reflection that also I dont want as and as I use ado.net I know the which class related to which entity map reponse direclty without making use of reflection which is very heavy stuff.

If you want more control then I suggest make use of ADO.NEt datareader and datatable.

Well its totally depend on how large project is

If project is mid or large scale , i recommend not to use entity framework [as per my view]

Also depends on how your project was structured and in which manner

With ado.net , you can easily maintain sql queries , sp or fucntions etc ...

In EF , auto generated entity may be not easily manageable sometimes
