Hi Deepak Tewatia,
SQL Server 2022 is the latest database version released by Microsoft in November 2022. The release builds upon previous versions to add more choice for SQL Server users when it comes to development languages, data types, replication to and from Azure, and more.
Hope this will help you!

Even though we are in 2025, the SQL Server 2022 is latest stable GA version. Even though the General Distribution Release was on February 14, 2023, ther has been several updates to this version and the latest build version is 16.0.4185.3 which was released a week ago (March 13, 2025). Microsoft announced that SQL Server 2025 will be released on November 19, 2024. This release will be available as a preview during the Microsoft Ignite conference. It is expected to have cool features like - AI-ready database, improved security, enhanced automation, and performance etc

As of the latest available update, SQL Server 2022 is the most recent version. It offers enhanced security, performance, and scalability features to meet the evolving needs of data-driven enterprises.
Regarding the latest version of SQL Server in 2025, it's important to note that specific details for versions several years into the future are not publicly disclosed or finalized at this time. Microsoft typically releases new versions of SQL Server every few years, so it's likely that there will be newer versions and updates by 2025.
To stay up to date with the latest releases and features, I recommend keeping an eye on Microsoft's official SQL Server website or subscribing to their announcements for any future developments. By doing so, you can ensure that you're aware of the newest features, enhancements, and improvements that Microsoft brings to SQL Server in the coming years.
