What is difference between Defect Detection & Prevention?

Defect Detection means finding out the defects in the system and defect prevention means prevent the system from the defects to be enter in the system i.e. could not allow the defect to enter inthe the system

The defects detection is the validation process and the defects prevention is a verification process.
