As a Data Science Consultant, you will lead efforts to make data available from new sources, build scalable and efficient data pipelines, and support various projects through robust data modeling. You’ll collaborate with data visualizers, solution designers, and cross-functional teams to ensure that data is accurate and available to meet the business needs. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical skills and a passion for data-driven problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Pipeline Development & Maintenance. Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines and ensure smooth data flow through monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Data Processes & Automation. Establish and automate data processes aligned with business and technology requirements using Visa-supported platforms and tools.
- ML & AI Pipelines. Set up ML Ops pipelines to deploy machine learning models and develop pipelines for generative AI.
- Data Quality & Validation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement robust data validation checks at various stages of the pipeline, ensuring high-quality data.
- Data Warehousing & ETL. Provide expertise in data warehousing, ETL, and data modeling to facilitate data-driven decision-making, optimizing pipeline design and performance.
- Technology Stack. Work with tools such as Hadoop (Hive), Spark, Python (pandas, NumPy), Presto, and SQL to extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets.
- Agile Development. Deliver data engineering and machine learning projects in an Agile environment.
- Cloud-Based Data Solutions. Stay up to date with the latest cloud-based data engineering trends and technologies to maintain state-of-the-art data infrastructure.
- Production Support. Provide ongoing support for production systems and data solutions.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 3+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or a related role.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Airflow, and MPP databases.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with expertise in both traditional (SSIS, Oracle) and modern (Hadoop, Denodo, Spark, Airflow, Python) technologies.
- Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization, stored procedures, and execution plans.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL, data modeling, and data architecture best practices.
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data warehousing and pipeline management (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience with visualization tools (Tableau, QlikView, PowerBI) is a plus.
- Ability to create data dictionaries, set up data validation alerts, and manage data pipelines for completed projects.
- Strong team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills in a matrixed environment.
