As an API Management Engineer at Google Cloud Platform, you will be pivotal in helping customers transform their businesses using Google’s cloud technology. This role focuses on leveraging Apigee, a comprehensive API management platform, to design, secure, deploy, scale, and manage APIs effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience in software engineering.
- Experience. 5 years of experience in architecting and implementing APIs and integration technologies in distributed enterprise environments. Proficiency in technologies such as REST, SOAP, GraphQL, JSON, OpenAPI, Python, Java, JavaScript, Cassandra, Kubernetes, etc.
- API Management. Experience with API Gateway/Management solutions like Apigee or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
- API Security. Experience in implementing API Security and Threat Modeling using SAML Assertion, OAuth 2.0, etc.
- Scripting/Development. Familiarity with PHP and Drupal scripting/development.
- Cloud Expertise. Expertise in private, public, and hybrid cloud design considerations including virtualization, containerization, Kubernetes, serverless, event-driven architecture, global infrastructure, distributed systems, datastores (e.g., Cassandra), load balancing, networking, and security.
- Multi/Hybrid Cloud. Familiarity with multi/hybrid cloud environments through platforms like Anthos.
- Communication Skills. Ability to facilitate development and communicate technical solutions effectively to both technical and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Customer Engagement. Collaborate closely with customers to understand their API needs and develop appropriate design specifications.
- Technical Leadership. Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership to ensure successful implementation of Apigee solutions in on-premises and multi/hybrid cloud environments.
- Collaboration. Work with global Apigee Product/Engineering and Customer Engineering teams to drive innovation and excellence in API Management.
- Best Practices. Develop and deliver best practices recommendations, tutorials, blog articles, sample code, and technical presentations tailored to different levels of stakeholders.
- Travel. Depending on regional needs, travel up to 30% may be required.
