As a Software Developer specializing in cloud engineering, you'll play a pivotal role in designing, building, and managing cloud-based applications and services using Amazon Web Services (AWS). Your expertise will contribute to ensuring seamless operations across various industries, from finance to transportation, and beyond. At IBM, you'll collaborate with top-tier professionals, leveraging cutting-edge tools and techniques to craft solutions that redefine what's possible.

Role and Responsibilities

  1. Design and Planning. Architecting robust cloud infrastructures on AWS tailored to client needs.
  2. Deployment and Maintenance. Ensuring smooth deployment and continuous maintenance of cloud applications.
  3. Troubleshooting. Identifying and resolving issues within the cloud infrastructure to maintain optimal performance.
  4. Innovation. Developing innovative cloud-based solutions to address evolving business challenges.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  1. Experience. 7+ years of overall experience with 5+ years in cloud computing.
  2. AWS Mastery. Proficiency in managing common AWS services like EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, and CloudFormation.
  3. Containerization. Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
  4. Database Management. Experience in administering various databases including MySQL, MSSQL, Postgres, DynamoDB, MongoDB, and ElasticSearch.
  5. Networking and Security. Strong understanding of networking and security principles.
  6. Configuration Management. Knowledgeable about configuration management frameworks such as Puppet, Terraform, Chef, or Ansible.
  7. Communication. Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  8. Linux Proficiency. Good understanding of Linux tools and commands, with experience in scripting and using Git.
  9. Authentication. Familiarity with various authentication methods including LDAP, SAML 2.0, and OIDC.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  1. Programming Skills. Proficiency in Python, Java, and web frameworks like Angular.js/React.
  2. Open Source Involvement. Experience with upstream involvement in open-source projects.
  3. Data Analytics. Knowledge of data visualization, dashboards, ETL tools, and data analysis techniques.
  4. Support Systems. Familiarity with support systems and tools.
  5. Passion for Open Source. An appreciation and passion for Open Source software.
