Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer, Data to join our Google Cloud team. In this role, you will work with a variety of customers from startups to large enterprises and help them design, migrate, and modernize their data systems in the cloud. You will interact directly with clients, translating complex technical requirements into actionable, scalable, and cost-effective database solutions. You will also play a key role in managing large-scale data migrations and ensuring data governance and quality.

Responsibilities

  1. Stakeholder Collaboration. Engage with both internal and external stakeholders to translate complex business and technical requirements into actionable recommendations for scalable, cost-effective database solutions.
  2. Data Migration & Modernization. Lead and drive data migrations to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), utilizing Google Cloud-native tools (such as Cloud Spanner, Cloud Bigtable, and AlloyDB) as well as third-party services.
  3. Data Governance & Quality. Develop and implement data quality procedures to ensure data accuracy and reliability across systems. Establish data governance protocols to maintain consistency and integrity.
  4. Troubleshooting. Work with customers and partners to troubleshoot performance and storage issues in complex data environments. Resolve challenges related to system performance, data integrity, and storage reliability.
  5. Project Management. Organize project requirements into clear goals and objectives, and create work breakdown structures to manage tasks, milestones, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working with client-side web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or HTTP.
  • Proven experience with technical troubleshooting and managing both internal and external partnerships or customers.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, C/C++, or Python.
  • Experience with data processing software and data processing algorithms.
  • Hands-on experience in designing and performing large-scale data migrations using a variety of tools and services.
  • Experience with Google Cloud-native databases such as Cloud Spanner, Cloud Bigtable, and AlloyDB.
  • Strong understanding of database design principles, data modeling, and the ability to translate business requirements into efficient database structures.
  • Knowledge of data security measures, encryption techniques, and compliance regulations like GDPR, CCPA, or HIPAA.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with database-related issues.
  • Excellent programming skills in languages like Python and Java, along with experience using object-role modeling tools and frameworks.
