The Data Engineer will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining robust data architectures to ensure reliability, accessibility, and consistency of data across the organization. This role requires a strong problem-solver who can innovate and adapt to a rapidly changing data landscape. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to transform raw data into usable formats, enabling data-driven decision-making and analytics.
As part of a new and challenging project, you will have the opportunity to develop solutions from the ground up, solve unique business problems, and contribute to the creation of scalable data pipelines and architectures. This role is focused on delivering high-quality data solutions that empower Tableau visualizations and downstream analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate in a close-knit, two-person team to deliver high-quality data engineering solutions for a new and exciting project.
- Develop, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from various sources into reliable and machine-readable formats.
- Transform raw datasets into data models that can be seamlessly consumed by Tableau for analytics and reporting purposes.
- Ensure data models and architectures are adaptable to evolving application and business requirements.
- Design and modify tables, data structures, and schemas to align with changing project needs.
- Work within a GitHub-based deployment environment, ensuring code versioning, quality, and automation practices are maintained.
- Use Airflow to schedule and monitor workflows, ensuring efficient and reliable pipeline execution.
- Integrate Python, Snowflake, and Alteryx to streamline data processing, transformation, and analytics workflows.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and resolve issues related to data pipelines, quality, and performance.
- Partner with developers and analysts to ensure the data models align with the organization’s reporting and analytical needs.
- Contribute to JIRA-based project management processes, maintaining transparency and accountability for project deliverables.
- Solve complex data-related challenges by applying critical thinking and contextual awareness to ensure optimal solutions are implemented.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in Python for scripting and automating data processes.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake as a cloud-based data warehouse platform.
- Strong expertise in Alteryx for data blending, preparation, and analytics automation.
- Experience with Apache Airflow for orchestrating and monitoring data workflows.
- Ability to create, optimize, and modify tables, schemas, and data models to support project requirements.
- Familiarity with GitHub for version control, deployment, and collaboration.
- Experience with JIRA for project tracking and agile workflows.
- Basic understanding of Tableau and its data requirements, including integration with back-end systems (focus on supporting Tableau, not developing visualizations).
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and address data pipeline challenges effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment while collaborating effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly and concisely.
