Gartner is looking for a well-rounded and motivated Data Engineer to join its Conferences Technology & Insight Analytics team. This team is instrumental in developing cutting-edge reporting and analytics solutions that drive the success of Gartner’s conference operations.
As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing data-driven solutions, ensuring seamless execution of Gartner’s data strategy. You will leverage technologies like MS SQL Server, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and T-SQL to build scalable and high-performing analytics platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to design and develop advanced analytics solutions that support Gartner's Conference Technology operations.
- Develop and execute data strategies that enable robust reporting, BI, and advanced analytics solutions.
- Design and build data platforms using MS SQL Server, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and T-SQL.
- Optimize and enhance SQL performance, ensuring efficient query execution across the analytics ecosystem.
- Develop and manage ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex data issues, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Create and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries and data flow diagrams to ensure clear documentation.
- Monitor nightly ETL jobs, build regression test suites, and proactively identify and resolve data inconsistencies.
- Work in a fast-paced Agile/Scrum environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions.
- Leverage Big Data solutions, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and optimized data workflows.
- Follow best practices in coding standards, unit testing, integration testing, and deployment automation.
- Identify areas for improvement and introduce innovative technologies or methodologies to enhance the existing data architecture.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have Skills
- 4-6 years of experience as a Data Engineer, with a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Proficiency in SQL development, including experience with Microsoft Azure SQL Database, SQL Server, and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
- Expertise in writing advanced SQL queries with complex analytical functions.
- Strong understanding of database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and query optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) and ETL pipeline development.
- Proven experience in creating and managing complex data integration solutions on Azure.
- Ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflows for better scalability and performance.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms and Azure technologies, such as Azure Analysis Services, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Delta Lake.
- Strong grasp of data modeling, database design, data warehousing concepts, and Data Lake architectures.
- Excellent documentation skills, ensuring clear and thorough documentation of data processes, configurations, and operational procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate/Post-graduate degree in BE/BTech, ME/MTech, or MCA.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with the ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
