As a Data Scientist within the EAG AI Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of AI solutions at Microsoft. Key Responsibilities
- Leverage your understanding of both data science and business to assess and interpret customer needs, aligning project objectives with business outcomes.
- Evaluate and document key business objectives while effectively communicating them in both technical and analytical terms.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to generate insights that drive actionable business solutions.
- Identify, acquire, and prepare the data necessary for project success, including structured and unstructured data.
- Utilize various data analysis techniques (e.g., querying, visualization, reporting) to describe and explore data, identifying key attributes and patterns.
- Work with Solution Architects and Data Engineers to prepare and clean data, ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Apply machine learning techniques (e.g., classification, regression, NLP, image recognition) to develop models that meet customer and business objectives.
- Select the appropriate modeling techniques (e.g., dimensionality reduction, cross-validation, regularization) and optimize models for performance.
- Use statistical tools to conduct hypothesis testing, analyze model results, and communicate findings clearly to business stakeholders.
- Develop operational models that can scale in production environments, working closely with engineering teams.
- Measure and evaluate model performance, linking results to business goals and customer objectives.
- Incorporate both implicit and explicit feedback to continually refine models.
- Assist in conducting reviews to identify areas of improvement and optimization.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and research in data science and AI to apply new techniques and technologies.
- Contribute to internal thought leadership, sharing knowledge and insights with colleagues and peers.
- Write efficient, readable, and maintainable code for data modeling and analysis (languages: Python, R, SQL, etc.).
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate data models into production systems and ensure operational performance.
- Utilize debugging techniques to troubleshoot, optimize, and improve model code.
- Manage customer expectations regarding project progress, ensuring transparency and delivering high-quality results on time.
- Work closely with customers to interpret data science results and provide actionable insights that align with their business objectives.
- Exhibit empathy for customer challenges and goals, ensuring the delivery of solutions that meet their needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, or related field with 2+ years of data science experience (e.g., managing structured/unstructured data, applying statistical techniques, and reporting results).
- OR Master’s Degree in the same fields with 1+ years of data science or consulting experience.
- OR Doctorate in a relevant field with no professional experience required.
- Proficiency in data analysis languages and tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, T-SQL, KQL).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields with 3+ years of data science experience.
- Doctorate with 1+ years of experience in applying data science techniques for solving complex business problems.
- Deep understanding of machine learning and statistical modeling techniques (e.g., regression, classification, time series forecasting, NLP, deep learning).
- Experience in developing operational models that scale in production environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
