As a DevOps Engineer at Visa, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our robust infrastructure that supports millions of transactions daily. You will work closely with internal product development teams to ensure smooth deployment, efficient release management, and optimal system performance.
Your primary responsibilities will include managing infrastructure, middleware, and CI/CD frameworks, providing technical support, and implementing automation to improve efficiency and reliability. You will also be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing various environments and ensuring high availability of mission-critical applications.
This role requires a mix of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure & Deployment Management. Implement, configure, and maintain infrastructure, middleware, and CI/CD frameworks to support seamless deployments.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting. Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for release builds, deployments, and application-related issues across multiple environments.
- Application Hosting & Optimization. Set up and support applications on physical, virtual, and containerized platforms, troubleshooting OS and release-related issues to ensure stability.
- Release & Build Management. Manage and operate release processes, build tools, deployments, and DevOps automation tools to improve efficiency and scalability.
- DevOps Tools & Technologies. Work with tools like Jenkins, JIRA, Git, Maven, Chef, Docker, Kubernetes, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) to streamline development workflows.
- Automation & Efficiency Improvements. Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks, reduce manual effort, and improve developer productivity.
- Environment & Application Support. Ensure continuous availability of applications, source control systems, containerization tools, and CI/CD pipelines to support development and release activities.
- Security & Compliance. Adhere to best practices in security, compliance, and version control to maintain a secure and robust DevOps ecosystem.
- Collaboration & Communication. Work closely with developers, testers, and system administrators to resolve issues, implement improvements, and drive DevOps best practices.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field OR equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or software development.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience working in DevOps, release management, or system administration.
- Strong knowledge of Linux OS and experience in system administration.
- Understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Java, Python, Unix Shell scripting, and Groovy for automation and system operations.
- Experience in implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar frameworks.
- Familiarity with build tools such as Gradle, Maven, or Ant for managing dependencies and build automation.
- Experience with source control tools like Git, Bitbucket, or equivalent version control systems.
- Understanding of containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
