Job Description

As an Engagement Abuse Analyst at YouTube, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategies to combat and reduce harmful activities on the platform. You will need to balance immediate operational needs with long-term strategic recommendations, ensuring YouTube remains a safe and engaging platform for its users. The role requires resilience, as you may be exposed to graphic, controversial, and potentially offensive content while ensuring alignment with YouTube’s community guidelines. This position also involves on-call responsibilities during weekends on a rotational basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced statistical methods to analyze large and complex datasets, assessing the impact of abusive activities on the YouTube ecosystem.
  • Contribute to the strategy and development of new workflows targeting known abuse vectors.
  • Master complex technical concepts and systems, delivering meaningful and clear results to diverse stakeholders.
  • Uphold and enhance quality standards by providing regular feedback and metrics to the global team.
  • Manage and innovate technological solutions to streamline quality assurance processes and develop scalable training programs for emerging workflows.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into fraud and spam using various data sources, identify product vulnerabilities, and drive anti-abuse experiments to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers and other stakeholders to enhance workflows through process improvements, automation, and the creation of anti-abuse systems.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality training materials, ensuring effective communication and consensus-building with business stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience in data management, metrics analysis, experiment design, and automation.
  • Familiarity with classification systems, ranking systems, or similar methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to translate analytical insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Experience in driving innovation and executing complex projects while collaborating with global teams.
  • Proficient in collecting, managing, and synthesizing large datasets from diverse sources, including statistical modeling, data mining, and data analysis.
