This role is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications that cater to specific user needs or business requirements. The role works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to create functional, user-friendly, and reliable software solutions. The role conducts testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure that software applications are free of defects and meet high-quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Designs Enhancements and Updates. Develops programming changes for portions and subsystems of end-user applications software running on local, networked, and Internet-based platforms.
- Analyzes and Integrates. Determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of the overall architecture of the product or solution.
- Technical Issue Resolution. Investigates and resolves technical issues reported by users or identified during testing and usage.
- Testing and Documentation. Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portions of the application.
- Collaborative Development. Works with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and quality assurance teams, to implement new features and functionalities in software applications.
- Resource Allocation and Planning. Allocates resources to complete programming projects, designing detailed plans to ensure applications are functioning properly.
- Leadership and Project Management. Leads a project team of other software applications engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions for assigned application portions or subsystems.
- Communication and Reporting. Communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding software applications design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
- Industry Trends and Skill Improvement. Keeps up with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in software development to stay current and improve skills.
Education & Experience Recommended
- Degree. Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
- Experience. Typically has 4-7 years of work experience, preferably in applications engineering, programming, or a related field. An advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience is also acceptable.
