Job Description

The Lab Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of a dedicated Android testing laboratory. This entails overseeing device inventory, troubleshooting technical issues, managing device software, and maintaining a well-organized lab environment.

Responsibilities

Device Shipments

  • Receive devices and meticulously track shipments.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive inventory of lab equipment and development work.
  • Conduct sanity checks and functionality tests on received devices.
  • Update devices with the latest builds, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctioning devices.
  • Perform software updates on devices.
  • Report issues, triage them, and coordinate resolutions with the team.

Device Health

  • Monitor the daily status of device uptime and contribute to the maintenance of test beds.
  • Ensure stakeholders are promptly informed of any system downtime or power issues.
  • Liaise with Client REWS for lab maintenance and audits.

Skills Needed

  • Hands-on experience with embedded systems and knowledge of bootloaders flashing system software.
  • Familiarity with the Linux environment and proficiency in using basic commands.
  • Experience in flashing devices, installing custom ROMs, and utilizing debugging tools like ADB.
  • Basic proficiency in network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi).
  • Proficient in IT support tasks such as software installation and troubleshooting.
  • Any programming skills, preferably with Python.
  • Familiarity with the safe handling of embedded devices.

Desired Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a lab support role or related field.
  • Prior experience working in an Android lab environment.
