Must-Have
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in Linux administration, including Filesystem Management (LVM and non-LVM) with SAN or VMWare storage
- Strong understanding of Unix architectural features such as SSH, vsftpd, Samba, NFS, HTTP, cronjob management, autofs, limits, DNS, and networking on RHEL 5, 6, 7
- User management with LDAP and local accounts on Linux
- Experience with server provisioning and decommissioning using VMware, EC2, and physical Linux servers
- Hardware maintenance and management using ILO, Digi, KVM console, and coordination with vendors and application teams
- Patch management using Satellite Servers in Linux
- Troubleshooting performance issues on Unix servers and conducting root cause analysis (RCA)
- Knowledge of version control tools like GIT
- Proficiency in shell scripting, including looping, variable assignments, and setting environment variables
- Knowledge of AWS and cloud fundamentals
- ITIL Service Management experience, particularly with incident, problem, and change management
- Understanding of multipathing on SAN-based servers
- Familiarity with Unix clustering solutions, preferably Veritas Cluster or Red Hat Pacemaker
- Flexibility to work rotational shifts, including night shifts in a 24x7 environment
- Strong knowledge sharing, escalation procedures, and collaboration skills
Good-to-Have
- RHCE certification
- Proficiency in additional scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Python, or Ruby
- Knowledge of configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, CloudFormation, or Terraform
- Familiarity with other Unix flavors such as AIX, SUSE, or Solaris 8/9/10
- Experience with incident, problem, and change management on BMC Remedy
- Responsibilities and Expectations:
- 24/7/365 Support. Monitor Unix infrastructure alerts and take remedial actions within defined processes.
- Project Work. Provision and decommission Linux OS on virtual machines or physical standalone servers, conduct storage migrations, P2V migrations, patching, and upgrades.
- Incident Management. Respond to and resolve tickets before SLAs are breached.
- Maintenance. Manage infrastructure downtime/non-downtime maintenance, including setting up blackouts, performing shutdowns and reboots of servers during maintenance windows in coordination with application teams, and fixing server health issues on a day-to-day basis.
