We are looking for a skilled and self-motivated MS-SQL Database Administrator to manage our mission-critical databases. You will play a key role in ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our SQL Server databases, while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver top-notch database solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and administer MS-SQL Server databases including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
- Conduct performance tuning and optimization using performance monitoring tools and dynamic management views.
- Implement and manage high availability solutions such as failover clustering, database mirroring, log shipping, and replication.
- Design and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to assist in schema design, query optimization, and database deployment activities.
- Monitor system health and performance, making recommendations for improvements.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database infrastructure and processes.
- Ensure security of the database systems by implementing access controls, authentication, and encryption mechanisms.
- Plan for scalability to support the increasing data volume and business growth.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, working under pressure to restore service rapidly.
- Familiarity with operating systems, particularly RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux), and integration with MS-SQL environments.
- Use monitoring tools to proactively identify and mitigate potential issues.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Proven 4 to 8+ years of hands-on experience with MS-SQL Server database administration.
- Deep understanding of MS-SQL internals and architecture.
- Expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning, backups, and restoration procedures.
- Familiarity with T-SQL scripting and automation of administrative tasks.
- Exposure to database version upgrades and applying security patches.
- Ability to handle production support and resolve database-related issues efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Good communication skills and stakeholder coordination experience.
