As a Network Engineer in the IBM Cloud’s IaaS Network Engineering team, you will be responsible for managing and enhancing our global network infrastructure. This role involves handling incident and problem management, supporting network evolution, and ensuring optimal performance across our network systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Incident and Problem Management. Handle escalations from various monitoring tools and teams, addressing service-affecting issues.
- Troubleshooting and Resolution. Diagnose and resolve network issues related to routing protocols, routers, switches, firewall administration, MPLS, BGP, VPN, and load balancing.
- Network Maintenance. Plan, schedule, and implement network maintenance activities, including software upgrades, hardware replacements, and infrastructure changes.
- Routing Policy Management. Implement approved routing policy changes to mitigate traffic congestion and address network incidents.
- Vendor and Hardware Collaboration. Work with network infrastructure/service providers and hardware vendors to identify and resolve circuit disruptions and device failures.
- Documentation. Create and maintain network connectivity diagrams and other documentation for both internal use and customer reference.
- Incident Management. Lead incident management during critical events, including communications, repair coordination, and root cause analysis.
- Performance Optimization. Analyze and optimize network performance to ensure efficiency and reliability.

- HSRP, VRRP, MLAG, VSS, VPC
- Python, Perl, Bash, Expect/TCL
Operating Systems. Linux, BSD
Device Configuration
- Advanced configuration of Arista, Juniper, and Cisco devices
- Troubleshooting Experience: Strong troubleshooting skills with experience in network operations.

- Education. Bachelor’s degree in a computer technology field or equivalent experience.
