We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Power BI Developer with strong expertise in developing compelling dashboards and reports, and working knowledge of QlikView/Qlik Sense to support ongoing BI initiatives and legacy systems. In this role, you will be at the forefront of transforming raw data into meaningful insights that drive key business decisions across departments.
This position requires a mix of technical expertise, creativity in data visualization, and the ability to understand and translate business needs into intuitive and scalable BI solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders from various departments to deliver data-driven solutions that support organizational growth and performance tracking.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Develop Interactive Dashboards. Build visually engaging and analytically strong dashboards using Power BI that align with business goals and stakeholder expectations.
- Legacy System Support & Migration. Leverage your experience with QlikView/Qlik Sense to support existing dashboards and play a key role in strategizing and executing the transition to Power BI.
- Requirement Gathering & Analysis. Work with stakeholders to understand business problems, gather detailed reporting requirements, and translate them into technical specifications and actionable dashboards.
- DAX and Data Modeling. Write efficient DAX queries and build optimized data models to enhance performance and usability of Power BI reports, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
- Data Integration. Connect and integrate data from diverse sources such as SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, APIs, and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure), ensuring seamless data flow and refresh schedules.
- Data Visualization. Present data in a meaningful way using charts, KPIs, slicers, and filters that help stakeholders make informed decisions. Focus on user experience and interactivity.
- Data Security & Governance. Implement and manage Row-Level Security (RLS) and ensure BI solutions comply with data governance standards and organizational policies.
- Documentation & Support. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including data flow diagrams, report logic, troubleshooting guides, and user manuals.
- Qlik to Power BI Migration. Participate in the planning and execution of dashboard/report migrations from QlikView/Qlik Sense to Power BI, ensuring continuity and improvements in functionality.
- Performance Optimization. Regularly review and fine-tune Power BI reports and data models for optimal performance, especially when handling large datasets.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in developing Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models.
- 1–2 years of professional experience working with QlikView or Qlik Sense (or both).
- Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M language), and data modeling best practices.
- Solid understanding of ETL concepts, data warehousing principles, and relational database systems (especially SQL Server).
- Experience working with large and complex datasets, including performing in-depth data analysis and cleansing.
- Good command over Power BI Service features such as publishing, managing workspaces, setting up gateways, and assigning security roles.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail in every stage of the BI development lifecycle.
- Proven experience in migrating Qlik dashboards to Power BI, ensuring data and visual continuity while enhancing performance and usability.
Desired Skills & Exposure
- Experience in advanced data modeling techniques, including star schema, snowflake schema, and normalization/denormalization principles.
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies for project management and delivery.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Azure Synapse, Data Lake, or AWS Redshift is a plus.
- Ability to create custom visualizations or use Power BI Embedded for advanced scenarios.
- Background in finance, supply chain, or healthcare analytics is advantageous.
