Job Description

Join Luxoft’s high-impact modernization initiative for a leading U.S. subsidiary of a global financial powerhouse. As part of a critical technology transformation effort, we are assembling a 20-person agile team comprising functional analysts, developers, infrastructure specialists, DevOps engineers, and QA testers, all led by an experienced project manager. The mission to revamp and migrate a large ecosystem of legacy applications and systems that span hundreds of Windows/Unix servers and a broad mix of technologies reaching end-of-life.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging directly with clients and stakeholders to understand technical and functional requirements.
  • Designing and proposing viable modernization and migration strategies based on project needs.
  • Estimating development efforts, proposing technical solutions, and participating in architectural decisions.
  • Writing, reviewing, and maintaining high-quality code in Java and PL/SQL to support modernization tasks.
  • Developing and maintaining shell/batch/Perl scripts for automation and system operations.
  • Performing XML parsing and data manipulation across migration workflows.
  • Implementing and running unit and functional tests to ensure system stability throughout migration.
  • Collaborating with DevOps and infrastructure engineers to integrate applications with the upgraded stack.
  • Troubleshooting, resolving bugs, and providing on-demand hotfixes where necessary.
  • Documenting changes clearly and concisely in release notes.
  • Actively contributing to sprint planning, daily standups, and stakeholder reporting through agile ceremonies.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Java/J2EE development in an enterprise setting.
  • Proven expertise in Oracle Database and PL/SQL development and optimization.
  • Strong scripting skills in Shell, Batch, or Perl for automation and system interactions.
  • Familiarity with Swift financial messaging protocols a significant plus in capital markets environments.
  • Proficiency in parsing and manipulating XML data structures, schemas, and transformations.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise SDLC, system integration, and data migration techniques.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Familiarity with project collaboration tools like JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience using Control-M for batch job scheduling.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) for messaging and distributed systems.
  • Prior background in the finance or capital markets domain, including regulatory and compliance standards.
