As a Senior Network Engineer at LinkedIn, you will be a pivotal technical leader within our team, responsible for designing and implementing cutting-edge networking solutions that align with both business and technical objectives. We are looking for a forward-thinking individual who stays updated with the latest networking innovations, fosters cross-team collaboration, and effectively manages competing priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and enhance network architectures, designs, and automated provisioning tools to improve performance, capacity, reliability, and observability.
- Design, deploy, and operate a large-scale network infrastructure across multiple geographic regions, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Conduct network maintenance and upgrades, identifying gaps and developing automation solutions for deployment and fault remediation.
- Ensure network security and compliance, participating in an on-call rotation to resolve outages and conduct post-mortems with remediation planning.
- Evaluate new technologies to address scaling challenges and collaborate with OEMs/ODMs to support our technology stack.
Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS Degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in network and data center engineering within a hyperscaler environment.
- Proficiency in network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, RDMA, and QoS.
- Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, Go) and scripting.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, host networking, and TCP tuning.
- Knowledge of congestion control solutions like QoS, DCTCP/ECN, and eBPF.
- Experience with network management tools (Ansible, REST/gRPC, NETCONF, Jenkins, Puppet, YANG, OpenConfig).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a technical discipline.
- Experience with SONiC and evaluating/deploying new hardware and software platforms for data center growth.
- Expertise in designing and deploying network infrastructure for HPC workloads.
