Job Description. Senior Software Engineer - EventBus Team
About Us
We are the owners of EventBus, a large-scale (~4 MM TPS per region) distributed event streaming and processing service. EventBus is a foundational technology powering Amazon's e-commerce business, enabling service-oriented architecture. We are dedicated to enhancing the system for innovative use-cases and are currently working on an ambitious project to redesign the entire system from scratch using native AWS services.
Opportunity
We are looking for a rockstar senior software engineer to join us in our mission to revamp the event streaming product. As a key member of the team, you will help architect, build, and operate a highly available, scalable, real-time, and cost-effective event streaming platform. This is a high-visibility role with opportunities for growth, leading projects, and influencing key teams within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Solve complex, mission-critical compute problems throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Own several business-critical software components, being involved in scoping, deep-dive, design, coding, and testing using an agile process.
- Lead and deliver through collaboration with a talented engineering peer group.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams and influence partner Tier-1 teams, Senior Managers, Principal Engineers, and Directors.
- Contribute to the re-design of the entire system using native AWS services.
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 8+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
- 8+ years of experience leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
